Back to the Drawing Board
I was excited to have completed my remarks for my up-coming book signing. It was a good speech, very hopeful. To practice, I gave the speech to my brother and sister-in-law, and while they thoughts it was well written, they didn't think it fit the occasion well. After I thought about it a bit, I realized their criticism was right on. I'm thankful to them for preventing me from giving the wrong speech. Now it is back to the drawing board.
I have started making an outline of the new remarks I would like to make in the speech. Whenever I speech, I never use notes or an outline, but in this case I think it I will use some bullet points to help remind me of the things I want to say. Using notes makes me feel like I'm less professional when I speak, but I think it is more important to cover the necessary material than to slip up under the influence of nerves and miss an important point.
I haven't done much of anything today—just sleep. I have needed that extra sleep, and now I feel a bit more rejuvenated. This is my first blog of the day; wow, I really have done nothing so far. I'll try to get some work done tonight. Perhaps I will even record a podcast.
FYI: All the paragraphs of the above begin with "I". Now that is poor writing. I must still be tired, because I noticed that and I'm too exhausted to change it up.
